I Predict A Riot!

From tomorrow morning Marks and Spencer will be selling a number of things at 1p. Yes thats right 1p!! It's all to celebrate their 125th anniversary ,so they're taking things back to 1884 prices.
I'm not sure how many people know about this offer but I'm sure the ones that do are ready for the madness that these prices will no doubt produce.
I can't make it there myself as I have to work but anyone that does get to see whats on offer please let me know what goodies you got at these crazy prices!

Getting Ready for the British Summer.

I bought this Pack-a-Mac in Topshop the other day knowing it's probably going to come in very useful this summer. I fact I've already worn it quite a few times as here in Scotland it can be beautiful sunshine one minute and the next the heavens  will open from nowhere. It didn't rain today though, probably because I was ready for it but its better that way than ending up soaked and far from home.

Take Me Higher.

I've been obsessed with these shoes for a number of months, looking at them online a least every few days, trying them on numerous times, I guess thats how you can tell that you really love something. So I finally caved in and bought them and I'm very glad that I did. They work great with most things I own and they're incredibly comfy and sturdy meaning I can pretty much go anywhere wearing them (thought not hillwalking or anything like that obviously).
They are by Kurt Geiger which is where I seem to be purchasing the majority of my shoes recently. Thats alright by me though as I'm loving all their designs and I've yet to buy a pair that hurt my feet. Most other brands give me blisters before I've left the house! Expect to see these regularly in my outfit posts.

Fashion's Future.

Last night I attended Edinburgh College of Art's fashion show and I was very impressed with what I saw. I tried to take some picture's of the clothes going down the catwalk but unfortunately shutter lag on my camera meant that I didn't capture what I was hoping. I found these images on the Skinny's website to give you an idea of some of the designers creations.
Starting with the Third Year's collections I loved what Matilda Anderson produced and I wanted to get up and touch the fabric's that were used, I really wish I had some images to show you. The Third Year Textile students work was also very impressive. They have been working with Bebaroque's Chloe Patience and Mhairi McNicol creating a range of printed and embroidered tights. I'm really pleased that this collection is going to be shown at Edinburgh's Botanic Gardens as I'll be able to get a closer look at the intricate designs and hopefully get some images to show you as well.
The images above belong to the Graduate Fashion designers whose inspiration and ideas came from a wide range of sources. Carly Wilson looked at British youth subcultures, I paticurlarly liked the use of feathers around hoods and jackets (guess I would though with my feather obsession). Kerr Watson fused traditional tailoring with sportswear and the white funnel neck jacket was a real standout piece. Joseph McGee's sculpted pieces were beautifuly constusted. Amelia Hobson's collection moved and hung amazingly. My favorite collection of the night belonged to Natalie Morris who's inspiration came from many different sources, I pretty much loved every piece that she sent down the catwalk. I think I liked this collection best because it was very dark yet it looked like it would be very soft to touch. I'd love to know what the trousers were made from, it looked like wool but I can't be sure.
Also showing at the fashion show was the works of the Performance Costume students. Stand outs for me were Harriet Kirkwood who's model was stripped of a gorgeous burgandy dress to reveal intricate undregarments below. I also loved Gabriella Brown's ballerina who came out wearing a short puffball skirt that was intied and fell down into a long skirt covered in feathers (more feather love from me).
Its a shame that none of the students seem to have websites, none that I can find anyway as then you'd be able to go and look at all the great work yourselfs. If I come across any more images I'll be sure to post them, for now though I wish all the students good luck and I hope that I see lot's more from them in the future.

Grass Markets.

Yesterday I went for a look around Edinburgh's Grass Markets which are held in the Grass Market area of the city (do you see what they've done there with the market name, it confused  a number of people I asked to come with me). The market was quite small with the majority of stalls being either jewelry or food so the only thing I purchased was cheese toasties  for the boyf and I, (spent too much money on Barbara Hulanicki for Topshop which I'll be picking up from my mum's later on the week).
My favorite stall of the day belonged to t-boo who is part of the Glasgow Craft Mafia, now there's a market that I really must make the effort to get to. A little trip to the west coast is definitely overdue as shopping through there is 10 times better than Edinburgh. Anyway t-boo's scrabble bracelets are a very clever idea, though I have to confess I've never played scrabble in my life which might explain why my spelling is so atrocious!
